New Zealand Grown
Pasture Feeds
New Zealand has the world’s best temperate zone pasture seed development and breeding programmes whereby new varieties are being developed constantly and released annually. The source varieties are selected from all over the world and bred in the New Zealand breeding programmes to develop new innovative materials. The programmes are also developing endophytes together with pest resistance and drought tolerance in pastures and new innovations are regularly occurring in these areas.
Ryegrass
Perennial ryegrass mixed with clover, is the most common pasture on New Zealand farms. Its main advantage is its ability to keep growing over many years. As well as this we supply Italian Ryegrass which are erect and large-leafed producing a large amount of high-quality forage for a shorter rotation and Hybrid ryegrasses which combine the best features of perennial and Italian ryegrasses.
Clover
White clover is New Zealand’s most important pasture plant, due to its nitrogen-fixing abilities, longevity, and palatability. Clovers are sown throughout the country. Red clover has a red flower and is slower to flower than white clover. It can last up to seven years under favourable conditions.
Endophyte
Endophyte is a naturally occurring fungus whose complete life cycle occurs within grasses. Plant breeders have developed different strains of these endophyte species to help resist insect attack from insects such as Argentine Stem Weevil and Black beetle, and also reduce adverse animal effects such as staggers and heat stress.
Tall Fescue
Tall fescue is a deep-rooted grass that tolerates heat and drought. It also withstands acid, alkaline and saline soils with poor drainage, and is becoming a popular alternative to ryegrass in drier regions. The newly developed tall fescues are very palatable and the problems of ‘fescue foot’ have been eliminated.
Herbs
Livestock like, and benefit from, eating herbs such as Chicory and Plantain, so New Zealand pasture-plant breeders have selected improved types of these two perennial herbs for grazing. These herbs supply nutrients and minerals from the soil very efficiently and are highly palatable to the animal. They can be sown as a pure sward or as part of a mix.
Brassica
Brassicas such as Kale, Rape, Turnips, Swedes and Fodder Beet for example are used as forage crops to provide farmers with a large amount of high-quality feed (high in energy and protein) for their stock as specialist summer feed or maintenance winter feed. They provide an efficient and rapid solution to out-of-season feeding with good financial benefits to the producer – reducing the need to purchase high cost concentrate feed.

Good irrigation is getting the required amount of water to the required area of pasture with as little cost and effort as possible.
K-Line Irrigation
K-Line irrigation systems are cost-effective, scalable, and water-efficient making them ideal for farms and other applications. K-Line is a flexible pipe and sprinkler pod system that delivers cost-effective, water-efficient irrigation and effluent dispersal across multiple applications. The K-Line system can be utilised in non-uniform shaped areas, undulating areas, and for irrigating pastures as well as crops.

Genetics
Pacific Basin Exports Ltd has considerable experience in sourcing and consigning genetics from both New Zealand and Australia whether it is dairy or beef cattle, or wool or meat sheep. The company’s directors have for many years been involved in genetics exports and have developed an enviable reputation for quality and efficiency in sourcing and shipping to client requirements. Farmers requiring genetics for pastoral production will quickly come to look at either New Zealand or Australia for their needs as both countries enjoy a very high reputation for the quality and consistency of their stud stock, and very high standards of animal health. Dairy
We have been supplying conventional and sexed semen from top NZ dairy production breeds, Holstein Friesian, Jersey, KiwiCross and Ayrshire for more than 25 years to clients throughout South America. New Zealand Dairy genetics have several advantages over Northern Hemisphere animals breeding for greater efficiency and higher production per hectare.
Beef
We are constantly sourcing top genetics from New Zealand and Australian stud beef cattle producers and can offer semen or embryos from top bulls in the traditional breeds such as Angus, Hereford, Devon, exotic breeds such as Charolais, Simmental as well as some tropical breeds such as Brahman, Brangus and Braford.
Sheep
We are specialists in sourcing and exporting sheep genetics from throughout New Zealand and Australia from wool breeds, meat breeds as well as milking sheep. We can offer both sheep semen and embryos and we also have a long and successful history of exporting live rams and ewes by airfreight for breeding purposes.
