Pacific Basin Exports Ltd was founded in 1978 following an extensive tour of Latin America by our founder – Gerry Williams. Gerry’s immediate family have been commercial sheep and beef farmers in New Zealand for 4 generations and Gerry himself has been a beef, sheep and deer farmer.
The company was founded to take New Zealand’s experience and expertise in animal production from pasture to producers throughout Latin America – and since then the company has been New Zealand’s major exporter of pasture seed, animal genetics, electric fencing and other agricultural technologies to clients throughout Latin America and the Falkland Islands.
During this time Gerry has been responsible for the initial plants and start-up technology for the Kiwi industry in Chile, was involved with the development of the blueberry industry in Chile, the first to send NZ animal genetics (dairy semen) to Chile, and the initiation of laboratory wool testing in Chile and the Falkland Islands.
PBEX have also been involved in developing pasture seed sales in Chile, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia as well as electric fencing sales and animal genetics developments throughout Latin America.
Other projects include the sale of wool through the New Zealand auction system and the establishment of a sheep development project in Chile. We welcome involvement in new projects as they occur.
PBEX has grown from humble beginnings to being the major exporter of pasture based farm management technologies from Australia and New Zealand into the Latin market.
We welcome contact from clients (new and old) throughout the region and look forward to working in the region for many more years to come.
